 The 2nd graders will be taking a field trip on a lobster boat in June.  With all the students being required to wear a life jacket for this trip, We are looking to you to help us fulfill the need help!  If you have a life jacket that would fit a 2nd grader (size 6-8 or 8-10), and you are willing to loan it to Mitchell School for the day, please send it into school by June 1st.  Please make sure it is labeled with your name on it, so we can promptly return it to you!!  Thank you in advance for your help!!

On Monday, March 19 at 6:00p.m. the Kittery School Budget for FY13 will be presented to the Town Council in the Town Hall Chambers. The budget proposal represents less than a 1% increase (.85%) and represents a fiscally responsible budget which still includes improvements to and expansion of current programs. Your attendance and support would be greatly appreciated.

The Kittery K-8 PTA spring fundraiser is scheduled for Friday May 18, 2012 at Shapleigh School.  The PTA is very excited to share an evening of family fun and entertainment with the community, while also raising vital funds for our children’s school enrichment.  One of the main events of the evening will be the “Basket Raffle”.

To help with the basket raffle, each classroom will be responsible for providing a basket.  Your child’s teacher along with the room parent/grade rep will choose a basket theme and submit it to the event committee by March 23rd.  Baskets will be valued at a minimum of $100.  While this may seem like a large amount, if everyone in each class contributes something, it is a very achievable goal.

Monetary donations can be in the form of check, gift card or cash (if sending cash we ask that you hand deliver it to teachers) any amount is a help and very much appreciated.  Please send your contribution, either an item or a monetary contribution, into school with your child in a sealed envelope labeled “basket donation”.  All donations should be sent in by April 11th.

If you would like to volunteer to help shop for and/or assemble the items for your child’s class basket, or if you have a fun or unique container to donate to house your themed items, please contact your child’s teacher, grade rep or room parent.  If you are unsure who your grade rep/room parent is, please contact Sandy Hamel at sandyphamel@aol.com. 

 If you’d like to volunteer for our event in another way, we encourage you to come to our next PTA meeting on March 7th @ 6:30pm at Shapleigh School.  This meeting will focus on “Kittery Kids Live”.
